The stuttering is the game reoptimizing the Shader Cache in "cacheless" mode (basically RAM caching). Looks like they changed the way the caching works. Welcome to Thursday of Dragonflight Prepatch or as im increasingly refering it to as Day 4 of the Hostage Situation Comment by darbotareu on T17:29:20-05:00 The old way was to cache it and store in on the hard drive, Comment by alisonprime on T17:28:27-05:00 I could be wrong here, I'm just reading what Advanced Interface options was saying about it This CVAR was added in Dragonflight, and defaults to 1, which tells WoW to cache the Shader on your HDD/SSD. Shader mode just tells wow how to manage its cache mode. You can't just type the naked command in chat. Removed you have to type /console in the chat, THEN the code. Please and thank you <3 Comment by TheTripleagent on T17:23:36-05:00 What is the 'shader mode'? And why does this help?Įven a simple explanation would be appretiated. I may be strange, but I like to know exactly what commands do before I use them. Why not give proper credit to the subreddit and post that originally had this fix found? Comment by Kalkatak on T17:21:54-05:00 Typed that into chat and all it did was post it into my guild chat, but you can find it in Advanced Interface Options if you have that addon installed. I did it by adding the line to the config.wtf folder, but I can confirm that this change on two different machines in my home took the game from barely playable back to buttery smooth 120fps all by itself. Made a noticeable difference! Comment by hfxRos on T17:17:01-05:00 but I was able to find the cvar it is referring to through Advanced Interface Options (an addon) and was able to manually change from 1 to 0. So just typing that into chat did nothing for me. The code is wrong, it's /console GxAllowCachelessShaderMode 0 Comment by thanyou on T17:16:19-05:00 The only time mac benefits in gaming over pc Comment by Kkura on T17:14:43-05:00
